Their Legacy
SITTING BACK WAS NOT IN THEIR BLOOD
The bravery and willingness of the group to fight for their beliefs were just as important then, as it is now. Sitting back and watching something happen and possibly saying, "there's nothing we can do now," is pessimistic. Doing something is a contribution. Even if it's just writing something inspiring on a wall with a pencil.
DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE
No matter your view (or mine) on the 2016 election, this is very similar. Such that, if you don't agree with the result, there is something you can do. Always remember, violence doesn't necessarily mean you will get your way. A smart, thought-out plan can. Apparently, if you agree with the result of the election, then you probably feel like there's nothing for you to do. And getting mad at those who are expressing their civil liberties isn't helpful either. The White Rose didn't agree with the regime so they did something. They risked their lives, which thankfully if we don't agree with something nowadays we won't necessarily be killed by the justice system for it. Clearly, there is a difference between the two events, but it is our job to make sure we don't make the same mistakes. We want to learn from the past and look for the pattern to make decisions that won't result in the same mistake.
BRAVERY DOES MATTER
In creating the White Rose, they only wanted equality and the genocide of humans to stop, so they took a stand that in turn costed them their lives. The group's braveness expressed that sometimes being a hero means daring to express yourself no matter the consequences. We are more fortunate than we used to be, but that doesn't mean we should stop trying to change and evolve. This world has never been perfect. We've learned from history and the White Rose that peace and equality are costly, but even though the group ended in flames, their legacy of braveness and freedom will live on forever. What we do to try to make positive changes will inspire action.
